You ever go for a walk during the night,
Taking in nothing but the crisp fall air?
You look at the sky, at the leaves on the ground,
The cars in the driveways…
And the people sitting inside watching Television.
Some have the windows open,
Some just have the curtains slightly moved,
Enough where you can see the light from inside.
I look at the detail,
The winding of their front path,
The flowers they have on their stoop.
Isn’t it nice to have pretty things to dress up our lives?
It’s amazing how nice things can look on the outside,
When inside everyone has troubles.
Some people project their troubles,
While others dress them up,
With flowers on the stoop.
